BIDAWARD - Project Bid & Award Database

What is "BIDAWARD"

BIDAWARD is a computer program that assists project management in archiving, retrieving and reporting about all bid proposals, awarded or not, inclusive of all related bid and award information. The database information can be also used for reference when preparing new proposals.

The Program Scope

BIDAWARD program deals with the matter of project bid proposals and related awards.

The proposal data are entered into the program database ether by the bid manager himself and/or his/her  secretary. The originals (papers) are stored in filing cabinets and their location is an attribute of the program. Documents in electronic form (files, scanned documents, scanned pictures, etc.) are kept in the project directory on the hard disk . Such electronic documents can be accessed and displayed on their computer screen, utilizing the BIDAWARD program directly, because the disk addresses of such documents are also the program data attributes. The bid proposal status shall updated weekly.

Once in the database, every authorized user can instantly view the document index, as well as original documents (if they are also stored in magnetic form) on his/her computer terminal, utilizing the BIDAWARD program.

Documents can be identified in accordance with the relevant document control procedure of McDermott, or in accordance with any specific project, as needed. The document ID may comprise up to 50 characters, and each document ID must be unique.

Data Security

An access to the data processed by BIDAWARD can be restricted and so as to allow reading, editing, and deleting the data only by an authorized persons only. The data security can be arranged two-ways: first by the built-in security functions (passwords) built into the BIDAWARD program and the database, and secondly by the server access rights, as applicable to the McDermott computer system in general.
